Kim Skilling R.P.C. M.P.C.P. M.B.A.C.P.

Kim Skilling is a registered professional consellor with over 20 years experience of working with children, adolescence, couples and families.

As a qualified and registered counsellor I have a private practice in West Vancouver. In addition to this, I am a Family Therapist for a community project in New Westminster where my referrals come from The Ministry for Children and Family Development. In both roles, I work with individuals, couples and families of all ages and on a variety of issues and working with personal relationships has become the main theme throughout my career. I work with individuals on the many issues that can affect those relationships, as well as their personal growth and wellbeing throughout their lives, whether that be with their current relationships, childhood experiences, health, loss, work-related issues, or general discontent and unhappiness.

I am from London in the U.K, which is a very diverse and multi-cultural city. On my journey, I have trained and adapted my skills as a counsellor, to work with clients from many different backgrounds to my own and this area of work has been very rewarding and educational. In the UK I worked in two schools as a Therapeutic Counsellor with young people from the ages of eleven to eighteen. I put together a counselling practice for parents and children for a Government funded project and I had a private practice where I saw clients. As a trained Supervisor in Counselling I supervised other counsellors, therapists and trainees.

I began my career after training, by assessing and teaching families about parenting and child development, under the umbrella of Social Services and Education. This work also involved assessment and representation of families for Child Protection cases. I then trained as a Counsellor, and have since continued my personal development and training to the high level requirements of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Now that I live in Vancouver I continue to maintain my British registration to retain my status of Senior Accredited Member. I am also registered under the category of Master Practitioner in Counselling, with the Canadian Professionals Counselling Association.
