Frequently asked questions
How can I make an appointment?
Call today to make an appointment, if you have to leave a message, I am with a client and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
What happens in the first session?
The first session gives you an opportunity to meet me and to see if we can work together. There will be some information sharing to establish your needs and to explain more about what you can expect from counselling.
Is counselling confidential?
The counselling sessions are confidential, unless it is felt that you, or someone close to you is at risk, in any way (e.g. Suicide, child protection issues etc).
How long are the sessions?
The sessions offered are 50 / 60 mins long.
How often?
The sessions are on a weekly basis, to build a strong working relationship. However, it has been my experience that towards the end, some people like to attend bi-weekly, monthly, or finish, and then return from time-to-time, to get further support if they need it.
Who do you see?
I see individuals in counselling of all ages, I see couples for relationship and parenting issues and families for family therapy. In some cases I just see one person for relationship or family work.
What kind of counselling do you offer?
I am a qualified Integrative counsellor, which means that I am trained in the main models of counselling, and I am able to adapt and integrate my skills, knowledge and experience, to suit the needs of the clients (e.g. short-term behavioral therapy, couple work for relationships and parenting, family therapy, or longer-term person centred or psychodynamic counselling for individuals). I am able to work on a variety of issue covering relationships, childhood experiences, health, loss, personal growth and wellbeing. I also offer counselling over the telephone if appropriate.
Can I use my insurance?
Yes, you can use your insurance, but please check with your insurer first, to see weather it covers counselling, and if they would accept me as your counsellor.
